Boom Again takes 80 million Baby Boomers back to warm, fun memories of growing up—and breaks the mold of conventional trivia games. This new “cultural trivia” board game is the brainchild of Brian Hersch, creator of Taboo, Outburst, Super Scattergories and dozens of the most popular party games of the last 35 years.
Given the dramatic comeback of board games in 2020 as people stay home or interact with friends on Zoom, Boom Again is destined to become 2020’s quintessential gift for the “impossible to shop for” Baby Boom parent, friend or relative. The game retails for $45.00 (which includes shipping and handling in the continental United States) and is available exclusively at BoomAgain.com
Boom Again speaks directly to the generation who grew up in the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. Designed to be played by two players—or two teams, Boom Again features over 2,200 questions drawing from advertising slogans and jingles, politics and social movements, movies, music, and television.
The game takes players on a journey from The Twist right up to Disco; from American Bandstand to Soul Train; Doris Day all the way to Janis Joplin; poodle skirts to mini-skirts; from Hula Hoops to The Pill. It includes the anti-war movement, the sexual revolution, and the drug culture that were a huge part of every Boomer’s life experience.
Rather than being an S.A.T. Test or standard trivia quiz filled with arcane facts, Boom Again is designed to produce a connection based on fond memories of a time before responsibilities. Team play minimizes the pressure on people to feel they have to know every answer.
Hersch believes that group games are really ‘lubrication for rusty social skills:’ “At its most basic, a great board game has to be fun. Most traditional trivia games are only satisfying for the brainiacs who get to show off how smart they are. The rest of us just get intimidated. Where’s the fun in that?”
Boom Again is packaged in a “cigar box” — just like the ones where Boomers kept their prized possessions. Authentic touchstones become the game tokens, including; a real Metal Skate Key, the center insert adapter from a 45 rpm record, a “Students For Kennedy” campaign button, a Vietnam-Era dog tag, and a working Roach Clip. The game even includes a “Boomer’s Little Helper” magnifier just in case players forget their readers.
Boom Again takes players on a well-needed road trip back to some of their happiest times.
Brian was a successful real estate developer in Los Angeles when the Trivial Pursuit phenomenon re-directed his career. His business analysis of its success revealed insights that led him to a different theory about “party games.”
What followed was a parade of hit social-interaction board games including Taboo, Outburst, Super Scattergories, Out of Context, ScrutinEyes, Malarkey, Oodles, SongBurst, and more. Deals with Milton Bradley, Parker Brothers, Mattel, Hasbro, and Western Publishing, and others ensued. Over 40 of his games have been published, and have sold over 50 million copies.
